When you, or your friend on your behalf, register with datemymate™ you provide us with personal information about you. We need the information we ask for in order to provide the best service for you and to enable us to keep in touch with you if we need to.

The information you provide is essentially of two kinds. Your personal contact details and the information that you may later decide to display on your profile page.

Our responsibility is to ensure that the personal information you give us during that registration process is kept confidential. And we strongly recommend that you always keep your personal contact details confidential and never publish them on your profile. It is only if and when you advise us that you wish to create a profile of yourself on the Website that we will post the information you wish to disclose.

We will never release information about you without your consent.

Do not be concerned if your friend has recommended you and may have registered personal information about you during the recommendation process. We do not continue to store information about people who choose not to register or who decide to cancel their registration.

1. The Information we Collect

1.1 Information you provide us if you are registering yourself as a Dater.

When you register on the Website as a Dater we need you to provide personal information about yourself: your name, your email address, your age, and sensitive information such as your sexual orientation.

We collect this information in order to ensure a safe service that suits your interests and it helps us verify your identity when you contact us. We will not disclose or sell your private information to any other third party without your express consent.

1.2 Information you provide us if you are a Dater submitting information for your Profile.

The information you or your friend submit for your Profile helps you to meet people. You should always be aware of the fact that your Profile is public and any member of the public might read this information. None of the comments your friend may have written about you will be posted on your Profile unless you give your express consent.

We also provide an option for you or your friend o include photographs of you on the site. If you approve a photo that has been uploaded you should be aware any member of the public might see this.

We encourage you to take care with the information you submit and avoid posting information which might enable someone to contact you other than through the Website's messaging facility. You are responsible for the information you provide for your Profile. Help us to help you protect your privacy.

1.3 Information you provide us if you are a Meddler registering a friend as a Dater.

If you are recommending a friend as a Dater we need you to provide personal information about them. This information may be sensitive information.

This information will be stored on a temporary basis until either:

1. your friend tells us they would like to register and the information has been confirmed by them, in which case we will store the information for the duration they are registered in accordance with this privacy policy; or

2. your friend tells us they would not like to register, in which case we will delete the information immediately; or

3. we don't hear from your friend, in which case we will delete the information after a period of one month.

1.4 Financial information you provide

Should you decide to register at membership level for which a fee is payable, you will need to provide us with financial information such as your credit card number. Payments on the datemymate™ server are made via a secure link. No details of your card are retained on our database and we will take all reasonable steps to ensure your financial information is securely transmitted and protected.

2. Messaging Other datemymate™ Users via the Website.

If you are a paid subscriber you will be able to send messages to other Users of datemymate™ via the Website, and this facility is completely private. However, in the event that we should receive a complaint about a message you have sent we reserve the right to read any of your messages about which we receive a complaint or where we have reason to believe that you may be in breach of our terms and conditions.

When you use the datemymate™ messaging facility your email address will always remain private and is not available for the recipient to view.

We will use your email address to communicate with you. Our communications will relate to the services datemymate™ offers including upcoming events. Should you not wish to receive email updates from us you need simply check the "opt-out" option.

3. Asking for our support

Any message you send to our support team is considered confidential correspondence between you and datemymate™ unless you would like to share a success story.

4. Advertisers on the datemymate™ Website

There are various advertisers linking their sites to our Website. datemymate™ is not responsible for the privacy policies of third party advertisers, nor for the manner in which information about their Users is collected and treated. datemymate™ is not an agent for these sites or advertisers.

5. User Security

Please protect the security of your username and password for datemymate™. It is your responsibility for keeping them safe and you should not disclose them to any third party. We will never ask you for this information and should you be concerned that your account may have been compromised you should alert us immediately.

6. Information gathered about your use of the Website

We may collect information on how you use our website for the purposes of improving our services. This includes collecting and storing information relating to the particular features you use and what pages you visit on the Website.

This information is used for our own purposes only. We will never sell, trade or otherwise disclose your personal information, email address, or any other information you provide us unless you expressly authorise us to do so or we are required to do so by law.

Much of the information we gather is done with the use of cookies. When you log on to DateMyMate™ our computer sends a tiny text file (a "cookie") which is stored on your computer's hard drive. When you log on next time, our computer is able to recognise that you have been to our site before and will automatically recognise you have logged on before. We mostly use "session cookies" which expire after 8 hours of inactivity on DateMyMate

We also use persistent Cookies to help improve your experience of the Website - such as by recognising your preferences each time you log on and they help us tailor the information we deliver to you to ensure you receive content that is fresh and relevant to your interests. This can also assist us in identifying users who abuse the site.

7. Changing and Accessing your personal details

Should your personal details change, please log in to datemymate™ and update your details in the 'my profile' section.
